Popular Medical Traction Devices
Thanks to the volumes of clinical research illustrating their effectiveness over recent years; penis traction (also known as extender or stretching) devices have become the preferred option for men serious about increasing penis size.
A number of legitimate medical trials have reported penis length increases of around 30% in test subjects when penile traction has been used consistently over a period of 6 months or so. Taking the average 6 inch erect penis as an example, this would equate to an erect length increase of almost 2 inches for the typical man. And contrary to popular myth, none of these men have developed a 'skinny' penis through this constant stretching. In fact, although not quite as impressive, stretching has also been reported to promote slight gains in penis girth as well.
More effective and far less potentially hazardous than penis lengthening surgery and less time and effort consuming than Jelqing techniques; they provide many men the perfect blend of convenience and results.
Taking advantage of this solid medical evidence, quite a few traction devices of varying quality have recently made their way onto the market. However, all the clinical research undertaken to date has used only one of two devices – either the SizeGenetics or ProExtender device. As such, these are the only devices that can truly claim to have been medically proved as effective.
Both have been certified as 'Type 1 Medical Devices' following the success of their trials; and are generally considered to be of vastly superior quality to the competition in terms of their anatomically correct designs, their build quality, the precision of traction they apply to the penis and their durability.
Although both are designed and built to high medical standards, there are certain factors that may influence your decision when choosing which out of the two penis extenders is the most appropriate for you. As such, I've noted the major distinguishing points of each brand. The reviews below are quite lengthy, but if you are thinking of purchasing one of these devices, I think it's important for you to have all the facts in order to make an informed decision.
If you've done any research into penis traction devices, you'll no doubt have come across the SizeGenetics device - developed by a Spanish urologist (a doctor specializing in problems affecting the male genitalia). The effectiveness of this device as a non-surgical means of penis enlargement was investigated in a medical study in 2001; the positive results of which earned SizeGenetics certification as a 'Type 1 Medical Device'.
Gaining certification as a 'Type 1 Medical Device' is a rigorous process that not only ensures that medical apparatus is an effective and safe form of treatment for a particular condition, but also certifies that the device is built to exacting standards using medical grade materials. Not surprisingly, this certification has solidified SizeGenetics' reputation as the 'Rolls Royce' of traction devices.
Conducted in 2001, the clinical trials that lead to this medical certification involved 37 healthy men ranging in age from 22 to 60 with normal penile and erectile function. Over a six month period of daily usage, the study reported that the test subjects experienced the folowing gains:
- Patients experienced increases in both flaccid and erect penis length.
- Patients achieved an average monthly increase of 0.47 cm in erect penis length and a monthly increase of 0.48 cm in flaccid penis length.
- After 3 months, patients gained on average 1.41 cm in erect length.
- After 6 months, patients gained on average 3.33 cm in erect length.
- Although not as pronounced, patients also achieved gains in both flaccid and erect penis girth of 1 cm on average.
- Increases in penis length were proportional to the length of time the device was used each day. In other words, greater daily usage resulted in faster results.
- These average increases were experienced by 95 % of the patients regardless of their starting penis size before the trial.
- The average increase in erect penis size over the 6 month period was 27.5 %.
The above results are pretty self explanatory and show conclusively that the device not only works, but that it works pretty impressively. An average 27.5 percent increase in erect penis length is substantial, and to be scientifically verified provides massive credibility to the effectiveness of the SizeGenetics device.
The company behind SizeGenetics has also been quick to acknowledge the mounting anecdotal evidence showing that the effects of penis traction can be further enhanced through the supplementary use of penile exercises. To this end, they now bundle their device with the market leading Penis Health exercise DVD guide, which to my mind is by far the most authoritative source of information on natural penis enlargement techniques available.
Whilst the use of supplementary exercises is optional (the results in the clinical study were achieved simply through the use of the device alone), SizeGenetics claim that the combination of all the two can slash the time it takes to achieve results. In fact, they report that customers experience similar gains to those achieved in their clinical study, but in half the time.
I personally find the idea of combining traction with exercise quite an exciting prospect. There's no doubt that both methods are effective on their own. But, for many men, one of the main stumbling blocks they face with exercise is simply that they don't have the commitment to make real progress, whilst those who solely use traction often feel that the typical six month usage required is too long too wait.
But the traction and exercise dual combination approach seems to offer a happy medium. The optional exercises provide a great additional boost to the enlargement process, even if they're not religiously performed as often as they should be. But what's more, the amount of additional effort that you do manage to put in with the exercises (no matter how small) seems to have a proportionate effect on both reducing the length of time you have to wear the traction device each day and the overall length of time it takes to reach your ultimate size goals. Very much a win, win situation.
Another important factor that sets SizeGenetics apart from the competition is the range of spare parts that are provided as standard. Most notably, the device is provided with a comprehensive set of elongation bar lengths to ensure that the device always fits perfectly. Traction device users often find that as they start to make noticeable length gains they 'out grow' their device or alternatively, find that the standard 1 or 2 inch bar lengths simply don't provide an exact fit for their current penis length. Many manufacturers take advantage of this problem by charging exorbitant prices for these additional parts.
However, in addition to the standard 1 and 2 inch bars, the SizeGenetics device is also supplied with smaller 0.3 cm and 0.5cm elongation bars. This ensures that you never experience the problem whereby you find yourself either too large for an additional pair of one inch bars or too small for an extra set of two inch bars; which can lead to a frustrating situation where the device either keeps on slipping off or doesn't provide the necessary level of tension to optimize gains. In total, the Size Genetics device is supplied with enough elongation bars to stretch the penis to a maximum of 9 inches, and with its impressive range of different sized bars, will fit any penis length under this mark with ease.
The addition of all these spare parts and accessories with the Size Genetics device can save hundreds of dollars in the long term and is certainly well worth remembering when weighing up your options.
Lastly, it's worth noting that the SizeGenetics device is also supplied with a highly innovative attachment system. Instead of the traditional silicone loop attachment method (as employed with the Pro Extender) the SizeGenetics device uses a newly developed 'comfort strap' - an inch wide silicone band which secures the penile shaft to the device.
This new design, exclusive to the SizeGenetics device, is said to provide a far more reliable method of attachment as well as greatly improved levels of comfort, which obviously enables prolonged usage per session. Medical studies into the effectiveness of penile traction have all noted that gains in penis length are directly related to the total number of hours usage. In other words, the more the device is worn each day, the quicker gains in length are produced. Therefore, by effortlessly increasing daily usage, this new comfort system should significantly enhance the enlargement process.
To better illustrate the point, here's a diagram from the SizeGenetics website:

To summarize, the Size Genetics system probably offers the most comprehensive and value for money traction device option. Not only do you get a premium quality medical grade traction device, but you also receive one of the most effective enlargement exercise courses available – which can really help to boost gains should you choose to use it. In addition, the significant number of spare parts included in the $389.85 price tag really sets the device apart from the competition in the sense of long term value for money.

In direct competition with the Size Genetics system is another medically developed penis traction device called the Pro Extender; developed in 1994 by Jørn Ege Siana, MD, a Danish plastic surgeon and urologist with a number of years experience in the field of medical penis enlargement. The Pro Extender device works in exactly the same way as the Size Genetics device and offers the same anatomically correct design and medical build quality.
In all honesty, very little separates the two devices in terms of their quality of engineering and the precision of the tension applied to the penis. The one design flaw with the ProExtender however, is that it employs the use of a silicone loop to attach the head of the penis to the device. Considered slightly outdated now (when compared to the SizeGenetics comfort strap system) the silicone loop can be the cause of a couple of issues. Firstly, as tension on the penis is increased with the Pro Extender, a disproportionate level of traction can be felt just behind the penis head. With the SizeGenetics comfort strap on the other hand, tension is more evenly distributed along the penis shaft, which given time probably results in more pronounced gains. Secondly, the ProExtender's silicone loop has a habit of slipping off the penis head every so often, particularly when higher levels of traction are applied. Of course, any type of slippage is both inconvenient and affects the overall performance of the device.
Another drawback of the ProExtender is that it's supplied with very few spare parts.
The standard Pro Extender for example (supplied in a cardboard box and costing $299.95) includes only one set of 1 inch and 1 set of two inch elongation bars. Due to the lack of additional elongation bars this standard version has a penis stretching capacity of only up to 7 inches in total. In addition, only one silicone fastening loop is supplied, which can loose their elasticity over time.
The deluxe model (supplied in a nice metal case for $399) is slightly better equipped and includes one set of 1 inch, and two sets of 2 inch elongation bars – enough to stretch the penis to 9 inches in total (the same as the Size Genetics Device). Unfortunately however, the smaller length elongation bars (supplied with SizeGenetics) which are useful for ensuring the device fits perfectly are sadly missing.
Having said all that, the Pro Extender, just like SizeGenetics, has been the subject of rigorous clinical research. The effectiveness of the device was illustrated by the results of a medical study published in April 1998, which recorded the improvements to penis size experienced by 18 men over a 24 week period. The study recorded the following results:
- After 8 weeks of daily usage the average gain in erect penis length was 17 percent.
- After 24 weeks at the end of the medical trial, the 18 test subjects had achieved an average erect length increase of 29 percent.
- In real terms, the average increase in erect length achieved was 2.8 cm (1.1 inch) after 1100 hours of usage at 1200 g traction force.
- Flaccid penis length increased on average by 1.9 cm (0.75 inch).
- Patients on average gained 1.9mm in erect penis length each week. Over each four week period, the patients therefore on average gained 7.9 mm (1/3 inch).
- No complications or negative side-effects were reported by any of the patients.
Not surprisingly, these results were not dissimilar to those recorded in the medical trials using the Size Genetics device. More than anything, this second clinical study corroborates the fact that traction does indeed effectively and safely increase both erect and flaccid penis length without any negative side-effects.
Like the Size Genetics Device, the Deluxe Pro Extender can be bought as part of a complete system which includes an instructional penis enlargement exercise CD written by a leading authority in the field as well as 1 months supply of VigRX – one of the few pharmaceutical grade 'male enhancement' supplements available. Practitioner-developed, VigRX provides a potent dose of numerous 'pro-sexual' ingredients that are well documented to enhance male sexual health and performance.
If you're specifically interested in combining the effects of a high quality supplement with traction, then the Pro Extender package may be worth the investment – although again, it's disappointing that only one month's supply of these supplements are provided – hardly enough to experience the full effects on sexual health. It seems to be the case that although the company behind the ProExtender certainly don't skimp on quality, quantity is lacking.
