Introduction to the Jelq Exercise...
You've probably heard of the Jelq - it's a very well known and popular penis enlargement exercise. It's one of those 'secret ancient Arabic' exercises that you've no doubt read so much about.
The story goes that knowledge of the Jelq was passed down from father to son over the generations in ancient Sudanese Arab culture. It seems that the ancient Arabs were as preoccupied with the size of their penises as much as we are today. Strange how some things never change, isn’t it?
Of course, the Jelq certainly isn’t secret anymore and probably wasn’t that ancient to begin with. But because of the almost mythical reputation it has built up, a lot of websites tout this exercise to newbies as the be-all-and-end-all of penis enlargement exercises – which it is not.
The basic Jelq detailed on the next page is certainly a good beginner exercise, which will put you on the right track to improving the thickness of your penis. However, there are a number of high intensity, advanced variations of the exercise that are far more powerful. In order to make sustained progress, you’ll need to progressively incorporate these variations (as well as other high intensity girth enlargement exercises) into your routine over the next few weeks.
For reasons of safety the more advanced Jelqing techniques aren’t mentioned in this beginner’s guide. To learn more about them you should consult a professionally developed penis exercise program that provides high end instructional material including video demonstrations and talk throughs. This will ensure that you not only know how to perform them safely and correctly, but you’ll also know when to use them for maximum effect.
The Principle of the Jelq Exercise...
Jelqing exercises are one of a group of techniques that steadily promote increases in penis girth by stretching the tough sheath of tissue surrounding the erectile chambers within the penis. This gradual stretching of the tough sheath (called the Tunica albuginea) enables the underlying erectile tissue to expand further outwards during an erection – visibly increasing girth over the course of a few months.
The mechanics of the Jelq are quite straight forward: The exercise forces higher than normal volumes of blood into the erectile tissue, which places additional pressure on the surrounding sheath of tissue.
A report published in the Journal of Urology in 2000 by the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York highlights how the Tunica albuginea can be susceptible to stretching. In the report Doctors noted how a patient admitted to hospital suffering from an intense bout of Priapism (sustained, non-voluntary erections which can last for several hours) experienced 'significant…permanent penile enlargement'.
The doctors concluded that the patient’s ‘Megalophallus’ (enlarged penis) was probably caused by ‘permanent stretching of the tunica albuginea due to severe [blood] engorgement’. They also stated that apart from the patient’s significantly enlarged penis, this effect on the tunica had no negative effects on sexual function.
Priapism however, is a painful condition that I wouldn't recommend you try to emulate through any means – in the above report the patient's Priapism was caused by a serious genetic blood disorder called sickle cell anemia.
However, the Jelq and similar exercises use the same physiological process of Priapism by engorging the penis with blood to stretch the Tunica albuginea, but in a totally safe and controlled manner.

Tip: Although a longer penis can be a visual turn on, penis girth is far more important when it comes to sexually satisfying a (female at least) sexual partner.
Whilst substantial length increases can be made through the use of a penile extender device, only penile exercises provide a natural way to significantly increase penis girth as well.
So if your girth is less than the average 5 inches (measured all the way around your penis) you should devote as much of your efforts to developing your girth as you do your length through the use of exercise.
I recommend taking a look at a couple of penis exercise programs in particular (read reviews) that provide highly targeted, high intensity girth exercises.
